8. Issad Rebrab

The 7th spot on the list is held by Issad Rebrab (77), the Founder and CEO of Algeria’s biggest privately-held company, Cevital. The company is known for owning one of the largest sugar refineries in the world. With the capacity to produce 2 million tonnes of sugar per year, it is no wonder this industry giant is successful. The company’s success is further strengthened by it owning a few European companies like the prolific French home appliance maker, Groupe Brandt. Rebrab made headlines after serving 8 months in prison on charges of corruption. He was released on 1 January 2020 and denies any wrongdoing.
