The highlight of the Rosewood Beijing hotel is its luxurious Spa called the Sense. The moment you step inside it, you are transported into a world of relaxation and harmony. Built on the principles of purity and simplicity, the spa is designed with the goal of giving a holistic experience. You are surrounded with wooden floors, sandstone walls and abstract art. You are greeted with a soft glow from candle-lit lanterns lining a wooden pathway guiding you to the spa’s reception area. There your designated masseuse will be waiting to escort you to the changing rooms. They are classy and have got everything you need ready for you: bathrobe, slippers, towels and a number of different toiletries. There is also a sauna and steam room if you feel like relaxing before the treatment. Or you can visit the pool – the gem of the spa.
The swimming pool
The Sense Spa provides guests with a hidden oasis away from a large and bustling city, where water is a rejuvenating power. Straight away you fall in love with the 830-square meter heated indoor swimming pool. With a soaring glass roof, it allows for maximum natural light. It is the perfect place for a refreshing summer dip or a swim after a winter workout. Plus there are a few private cabanas and a spacious Jacuzzi to further enhance the experience. Surrounded by greenery, the space has the power to transport you to the tropics with its temperature-controlled environment. There is also a gym, fitness and yoga studio, as well as juice bar nearby.
The Sense Spa at Rosewood
The Spa boasts an array of spa treatments available for men and women, as well as children over 12. For example, guests can try the Pearl of the Orient facial therapy, using a mask infused with black pearls. It is ideal for skin lacking elasticity and plumpness. We also liked the sound of the Candle Massage. It sees therapists applying a warm wax mix with an exotic blend of lavender and mandarin on the skin. That one works not only on the body, but on the mind too. For men, there is Coal Energy – an energising and detoxifying therapy that uses the mineral power of coal. Its aim is to restore the skin’s firmness and tone to renew its vital energy. There are many more exciting treatments in store at the Sense Spa, including the one we have had.
Sense Signature
We were lucky to experience the Sense Signature massage, which started with a relaxing footbath and scrub. During the bath, we were indulging in date tea and some traditional Chinese fruits. Then we were asked to choose the oil for our massage – I went for the lavender, while my partner preferred lemongrass. What I liked is that the Sense signature massage combines a number of massage techniques to address guest’s special needs. My focus area was on my shoulders and neck – thanks to constant typing on my laptop. The massage was very relaxing and enjoyable, while the masseuse was attentive and strong. After, feeling reborn, we were invited to chill at the relaxation room and enjoy some tea, while admiring the city views. The whole experience was exactly what a luxurious spa should be like. What’s more, the Rosewood Spa has suites designed for overnight stays.
