If you think you are going to discover a luxury hotel full of gold encrusted furniture or with soft towels by Pratesi, you might be wrong. In fact, Hotel Borgo Giusto, whose name resonates with echoes of the word “borgo” which means “small village”, is something very different from what would traditionally be considered a luxury.
Located in Partigliano (Lucca, Tuscany), this small village in the Tuscan hills is a true example of Italian expertise in transforming something with a great historical value into a place where you can relax and enjoy nature. It’s easy to reach by train, by car but also by helicopter.
Borgo Giusto is a 17th-century small village in which farmers lived and worked. It was gradually abandoned in the 1900s when families moved to bigger cities to find less hard and better paid jobs.
Here historic figures like the famous Opera composer Giacomo Puccini, a friend of the Giusti family (the oldest inhabitants of the Borgo), or soldiers during WW II passed by. But Borgo Giusto’s architecture and its location have remained fascinating and in 1995 the restoration of the Borgo started.
Now, after almost 20 years, Borgo Giusto has succeeded in its mission: from being an abandoned village, now it is a hotel with rooms, suites and villas located throughout the Borgo.
The hotel offers all the modern services you would expect: TV, WiFi in the rooms, a comfortable bed and of course a 20m pool in the garden, plus a spa which uses Comfort-Zone products. There is also a restaurant serving typical Tuscan cuisine where it’s possible to have lunch and dinner.
But for someone who loves luxury, what’s really cool about Hotel Borgo Giusto is that with roughly 10000€ per night (it depends on the season) you can book the entire Borgo just for you.
The staff in fact offer this solution to guests who want to have their privacy or want to organise parties or weddings in this historic and intimate location. With the exclusive booking of the Borgo, you will be the only guest of the entire structure and you can also ask the staff for almost anything you want: from gold plates, a personal shopper that will bring you branded clothes directly in the hotel to a Rolls-Royce courtesy car. You only need to ask.
The activities on offer to enjoy in the Borgo are very different: from relaxing in the spa with exclusive use (only 2-3 people are allowed at a time), to horse-riding in the woods, trekking or, from April, Italian cooking lessons.
The mission of Hotel Borgo Giusto is to offer intimacy and relaxation to the people who want to enjoy nature and Italian cuisine. Moreover, thanks to its position in the heart of Tuscany, the guests may also rent a car and visit Florence, Lucca or Pisa.
