This month, Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is making its public debut. To commemorate this viewing we decided to put together our top 3 interiors from the company’s three model lines.
Mulliner Bacalar
Bacalar is the first car to be created as part of Bentley Mulliner’s new Coach Built portfolio. The roofless Barchetta design with all-new and highly muscular coachwork features a wraparound cockpit design that not only blends the interior and exterior together but also emphasises the two-seater character.
Bentley has entered into collaborative relationships with carefully selected industry experts to create the new Bacalar. Each one uses sustainable and innovative techniques that exemplify the best craftsmanship that the world has to offer, in many cases fine-tuned over centuries, and using ethically-sourced materials.
A focal point of the cabin is the wraparound dashboard cut from rare Riverwood, a sustainable wood from naturally fallen trees that has been preserved for 5000 years in peat bogs, lakes and rivers found in the Fenlands of East Anglia, England.
This wood was chosen for its black aesthetic, the result of lying untouched in wet earth for thousands of years. The wood has been air-dried in a controlled environment over a long period of time to prevent damage and conserve its unique, natural characteristics.
Bentley Mulliner has also collaborated with a traditional British textile mill to produce bespoke natural wool cloth akin to a fine tailor’s suit. Bentley Mulliner has embraced the expertise and knowledge of these centuries-old methods to create an exclusive and unique woven cloth especially for the Bacalar, and customers will have the option to co-create their own bespoke fabric blend.
Further promoting sustainable craftsmanship and supporting a unique industry, the luxury overmats are precision woven on traditional Wilton looms in England using the finest natural yarns. These Wilton-woven pure wool deep pile carpets are hand-carved for the footwell and rear luggage compartment, following the embroidered pattern found on the seats.
Bentley Bentayga V8
Set to arrive in South Africa as soon as November 2020, this beast of an SUV’s highly praised interior has been significantly revised in the latest model. Among the major changes are a new centre fascia and steering wheel, new door trims and all-new seats, now available with ventilation in the rear of the five-seat cabin option.
The latest hardware and software bring all-new navigation with satellite maps, online search and other features. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard for the first time, alongside the existing wired system, along with Android Auto, market dependant.
Connectivity around the car has been significantly improved, with USB-C data ports and a wireless phone charger now standard. New Bentayga is now provided with an embedded SIM, as with the latest Continental GT models, meaning My Bentley connected car features no longer require customers to provide their own data connection. My Bentley in-car and remote services is a continually developing range of services available to customers through a dedicated app, available both on Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms.
The interior can be further enhanced with the application of dark tint diamond brushed aluminium trim for the first time in a Bentley, as well as two straight-grained veneers new to Bentayga.
Bentley Flying Spur Grand Touring sedan
The all-new Bentley Flying Spur is the ultimate Grand Touring sedan, offering the perfect fusion of performance-orientated agility and exclusive four-door, limousine-style comfort.
Inside the sumptuous cabin, the design lines flow from the new wing-themed fascia to connect the front and rear passenger areas and create a completely integrated style.
The interior is unmistakably Bentley, incorporating natural and authentic materials while also embracing a host of new technologies.
The unique Bentley Rotating Display is the central feature of an exquisitely crafted dashboard. The HD instrument panel has the choice of a 12.3-inch digital touchscreen, beautiful analogue dials, or a digital-detox wood veneer finish.
Peerless comfort and refinement in the spacious cabin are enhanced by an extensive list of Single and Dual Veneer wood options. In both front and rear Bentley has introduced completely new-design fluted leather seats, which feature diamond quilting for the Mulliner Driving Specification. Three-dimensional diamond quilted leather doors inserts are a world first.
Another major advance comes in the form of new, three-chamber air springs, which offer a much greater range of suspension adjustment between limousine-style ride comfort and sporting levels of body control. It allows the Flying Spur a breadth of capability not seen in the luxury segment before.
