When it comes to London’s best hotels, Four Seasons on the famous Park Lane is at the top of our list. Located in the heart of Mayfair, the luxurious hotel boasts chic design, fine dining and an exceptional concierge team.
Sophisticated luxury
The hotel has 193 luxury guest rooms, including 42 suites that feature terraces with stunning views of Hyde Park. Well-known interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon created a classical contemporary ambience, balancing eclectic British sophistication with a sleek modern style. Our room pick is a picturesque Terrace Suite which boasts a separate dining, pantry and a lounge area, and so, it is perfect for hosting guests. It can be configured as a two-bedroom suite, in addition, and it opens out on to a large terrace.
Summer Afternoon Tea
We were recently invited to step into the British summer and enjoy a timeless traditional Summer Afternoon Tea. Our afternoon commenced with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut (one of our favourites) in a stylist Amaranto Lounge.
Locally Sourced
The hotel’s Executive Chef, Romuald Feger, and Pastry Chef, David Oliver, had been working for a few months to create this special Afternoon Tea experience. They wanted to showcase and celebrate the best of the British season’s produce. So, when it came to the tasty selection of sandwiches, they were made with locally sourced produce: Devon Crab with Candied Ginger and Apple, and Maldon Cured Smoked Salmon, Caper, Tarrogon and Asapargus Butter. As for the flavoursome Highland Waygu Salf Beef, Bibb Lettuce with Horseradish Cream on Rye Bread, we were blown away!
British Summer Inspired
Another inspiration behind the Summer Afternoon Tea was to pay homage to the British summer season renowned for its historical social events. Think Wimbledon, Chelsea Flower Show and Goodwood Festival of Speed incorporated in desserts. This social theme came through a beautiful selection of cakes, such as Apricot and Lavender Tart with Orange Blossom and Yogurt Cream. We really enjoyed the Brittany Sable with a Vanilla Mousse and Strawberry. However, our favourite was the Peach and Ginger Mousse with Redcurrant Coulis and Crunchy Pistachio.
Spoilt for tea choice
To accompany the Summer Afternoon Tea, we were invited to choose from specially selected JING teas. We felt spoilt for choice between a wide range of black, green, white and herbal teas on offer. But our eyes fell onto Red Dragon, a unique tea processed as a black tea using a tea cultivar traditionally used for oolong tea. Because of that, it had a rich texture and an enticing flavour of dark berries, caramel and chocolate.
