This September I was lucky to attend London Fashion Week and check out the SS18 trends. I love when the fashion week is in town – the city is buzzing with extra energy, talent and diversity. Plus you can bump into the world’s fashionistas and style icons like David Gandy or Olivia Palermo. During that week Londoners also take the opportunity to showcase their style and use their creative to come up with the best ‘streetstyle’ look. Here are some of highlights of the designer shows I saw, as well as some of my looks.
Markus Lupfer
Where glam rock meets 1940s glamour, where summer in the city meets steering a boat into the big blue, there is Markus Lupfer’s Resort 2018 collection. When the sky is grey, the newspapers bleak, fashion is an escape. The Markus Lupfer girl is ripping up the rule book and championing the eclectic: she is dressing for joy & adventure. Think a molten metallic skirt over a chintzy floral blouse, pearls in your ears and feathers on your shoes!

Sabinna
Founded by Russian-born and Austrian-raised designer Sabinna Rachimova, SABINNA is a ready-to-wear and knitwear label with a focus on hand crochet. In May 2017 it won the Fashion Futures awards presented by Decoded Fashion and the British Fashion Council. SABINNA season 005 collection is an emotional journey into memories, drawing inspiration from objects from the past. Key pieces include knee length dresses with gathers and pleats in block colours. The brand’s signature knitwear is seen in the form of sweaters with layered neck detailing and crotchet flowers.
Alzuarr
The goal of Alzuarr shoe brand is to give every woman a sense of being powerful and confident. Contemporary art, street fashion and minimalism are a big inspiration to Zeynep Dag, the brand founder from the Netherlands. Her shoe designs are synonymous with classic sophistication and timelessness, and feminine power at the same time. She uses luxury materials such as genuine leather, and combines it with quirky designs and her meticulous attention to detail. The result – stunning shoes loved by Rihanna, Kendall & Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and Vanessa Hudgens.
Natasha Zinko
One of the most talked-about young labels in London, Natasha Zinko also presented her SS18 collection during London Fashion Week. Inspired by the two places she calls home – UK and Ukraine – the designs draw on the similarities and differences between both countries. Supreme femininity is juxtaposed with harder, utilitarian pieces. Expect bold blues and florals to contrast a camo print in muddy greens. Zinko’s talent for highlighting the female form in whimsical and unexpected ways sees multi-layered aesthetic mixed with patchwork, leather and denim.
